She sat in the office of the BADGE agent. He looked at her with her short brown hair and deep blue eyes. She was wearing a blue costume and had a look of determination.
"So, tell me, Astra, how did you obtain your powers if you have any?" the agent asked.
"Well, it happened when I was a 15 year old boy living in the town of Hudson, Colorado," she began. "My name was Kevin. I was just coming home from a track meet in Fort Lupton when my buddy and me were abducted by aliens."
"Little green men?" the agent mused.
"No, these were grey, with big heads and eyes," she corrected. "I don't know where they took my buddy, but they took me into a laboratory and an energy field held me in place. I could look around but I couldn't move or talk. They brought up a holographic display of my DNA and noted certain spots. They were excited and moved over to me. They seemed to want me to sign something but I couldn't move. Something flashed and they got started."
"So you gave consent?"
"I don't think so," she shook her head. "Suddenly I was bathed in this strange red light and I could feel things changing. My body was changing as was my mind. I could suddenly hear the thoughts of the aliens which they quickly blocked. I could see and feel my body change from male to female. I began to scream in utter terror when I felt my mind drift to sleep. I awoke on my front porch a few hours later."
"How did you get there?"
"I don't know? I think that was where the aliens dropped me off. My clothes didn't fit right and my key was missing. So, I knocked on the door. My parents didn't recognize me. I was wearing the same clothes but my body was different, I don't think my facial features changed that much, I just looked feminine."
"Is that when your powers emerged?"
"Yes, I remembered what happened in the alien lab. How I could hear their thoughts. I tried to relay what happened to my parents and it freaked them out. They threatened to call the sheriff on me and suddenly I found myself floating in the air. That was the first time I use telekinesis and it was to make me fly. I flew away. I was found and taken in by an old retired hero. He taught me how to use my powers adopted me and gave me a new legal name. I found out my parents listed me as deceased. So, I have a completely new life as a young woman with vast psionic powers. I figured I could help out BADGE and be the heroine Astra."
