Collaborative Fiction: League War Birthday Bash- Snapshots (Open for all to share some League War Birthday Bash Stories)

This post was updated on .
Kyrie participated in League Wars Egg-celsior on a lark a few months ago. The Legion of Unusual Superheroes offered her an opportunity to compete and even though it was in the lowest division, she was still proud of the Silver medal she and the league won. She thought there was nowhere to go but up.

When the Star Force: Junior League recruited her for the team at Chained Angel's request, she felt honored. That was until the first round of battle, when the Junior League went up against the Magnificent Seven. Her clock felt severely cleaned. As did pretty much every other member of the league. Wyldfyre and the team leader Arcane Ace managed to score some wins, but not enough to carry the team. She worried she might have joined the 5th Precinct by accident, being beaten like a red-headed stepchild repeatedly.

She found herself longing for her old team, L.U.S.H., but it didn't take long for memories of the unique characters in that league to lessen her yearning. Sweet as she could be, Little Bunny FuFu and her constant pounding on the walls trying to chase mice out of them, or OU812's constant buzz of interior motors trying to grind bits of garbage into bits, could only be described of the lesser of the strange characteristics her former team supported.

Obsidian Strike had warned her when she joined they were a unique bunch. Kyrie grinned and shook her head from side to side as she wandered the hallway outside the team locker rooms.

For the first battle round of league war, Prysmatica didn't expect to be facing the Avengers51. Sure, she knew they were going to be there, but the Star Force usually had an easier first round. The A51 teams weren't usually their opponent or if they were, it wasn't until later in the LW. She watched from the benches as SDMF Painkiller had his bout with Infinite Tempest. IT went down fighting, but it was a quick fight.

She then took the floor with SDMF Painkiller. Try as she might, it didn't go well for her. Fortunately, she didn't remember most of it. Being knocked out before you hit the floor is sometimes a hidden blessing. One by one, she and her team took a beating from the much fiercer team. Chained Angel managed to defeat SDMF when he attacked her once. Highlands stood his ground against Ringmaster, once. Prysmatica was proud of them, being able to take the attack and turn it into an advantage for the Star Force. "It must feel nice," she whispered to herself after congratulating them.

Her second fight with SCMF didn't go much better than the first. Arctica froze her out. Twice. Ringmaster. Twice. Silver Paladin took the field for a few fights and held his own, but not nearly enough to come close to evening the score. Chained Angel did the same, or tried to.

Lady X took her turns beating on Prysmatica. Once. It was only a matter of time until she came back around for her second go. Fortunately, being able to make complex illusions with light allowed Prysmatica to hide her battle wounds, bruises, and shame from others. It was announced that it would be her turn to face Night Hawk, a long-time competitor. She remembered how Starmaster would tell her how hard of a combatant he was to face, back in the day. Now it seemed she would find out for herself. She stood from her chair and shook off her wistful thoughts. Time to let her training take over. If she was going to lose, it wasn't going to because she didn't do her best.

One on the battlefield, and having nodded her respect to the opponent before her, Prysmatica waited for the green flag to indicate battle was to start. Having control of light itself in its infinite varieties, she began with a cold-light blast meant to freeze her target and slow him down a bit. He dodged her initial attack with ease, damaging her with his fear-based Nightmare Aura. He then struck her with a fierce, but humorously arousing, kick that knocked a fair deal of the wind out of her lungs. In response, she drew deeply into her soul and summoned the brightest light she could from inside of her, emitting it from the center of her being.

It struck Night Hawke, encompassing his head and body and STUNNED him, causing him to reel for a moment in his tracks.

Emboldened, Prysmatica tapped into the same energy and fired again with it, but having regained a bit of his own thoughts, he dodged her second blast of inner light.

A small robot companion appeared over his shoulder and hit her with an energy blast. She rolled with the impact, deflecting some of the damage away from her with her own Prysmatic Shields. Thinking of the multicolored essence of New Years, she hurled a glittering ball at Night Hawk and his robotic companion, frying his little friend and causing Night Hawk to become disorientated from the brilliant attack. Stunned as he was once again, she dug deeper than she knew she had within and blasted him once more with her inner light.

He didn't dodge. The disadvantage of being disorientated continued.

She did it again, letting her more-than-little light shine once more. His body sizzled under the continued onslaught. Tendrils of steam whisped off his costume, but he still stood.

She fired the power of her Inner Light once more, but his disorientation ended in time for him to dodge her latest attack.

As he tries to attack her one last time, her own dread Nightmare Aura protects her from his attack by overwhelming his senses and dropping Night Hawk to the ground unconscious.

Gazing around the battlefield, Prysmatica smiles as she struggles for breath. Her team is cheering for her in the background. If Night Hawk only knew how close I was myself to dropping. She knew that if he had connected one last time, she would have been the one on the ground.

Despite knowing they would lose the round in the end, Prysmatica felt as if she earned her place on Mount Olympus. She did it. She had managed to defend herself from an Avenger 51 member. She knew she couldn't do it again today, exhausted as she was, but eventually, she would do it again.

And knowing that was glorious...

Re: Collaborative Fiction: League War Birthday Bash- Snapshots

Starmaster
Starmaster sat quietly, his back resting against a wall in the Legacy of Spawn lounge at League Wars Birthday Bash. Having just finished his matches vs the SERAPHIM ANGELS, he needed time to restore his strength. An iced Polar Bear Mocha from StarBux hovered in the air beside him, occasionally floating to his mouth as he listened to Krystal Fae, Ace, JwStrangerF, and others discussed their opponent.

"Captain Bob has been eating his wheaties," Krystal Fae said. "He managed to take me down in one of the rounds I challenged him. His tech build needs to go into my lab for some study."

"Who do you think is more challenging? Captain Bob, SERAPHIM, FloridaMan, or The Awesome?" Ace asked. "I'm trying to plan out who to challenge next. You've faced all four of them, Krys. Who do you think I should go after next?"

Krystal raised an eyebrow to Ace, looking mildly disappointed at her teammate. "You didn't scout them in advance? That's not typical of you. I thought I taught you better."

Ace shrugged. "I got busy. I knew you would all have my back. So, come on, help me pick a good cherry."

"You're tough. Go with whomever floats your boat," Krystal said while holding a palm to her belly. "Don't worry, little one. You know how you sometimes kick me in the belly. Well, Mommie is playing a game where you may get jiggled around a little bit, but nothing is going to hurt you."

Starmaster finished sipping at his coffee before chiming in. "I'd go for SERAPHIM before Captain Bob, but of the four of them, FloridaMan would be the safest bet."

Ace nodded. "Thanks. That's what I thought too, but it never hurts to get a second, and sometimes even a third, opinion." Gathering her gear, Ace headed out to make her next challenge.

"Are you going to be ready to face some Avengers51 next round," Krystal asked. "I've sparred with most of them at BADGE headquarters, so if you want the skinny on any of them..."

"I've done some simulations," Starmaster said. He knew that the challenge fighting Avengers 51 would be bigger than their other Division challenger, the 5th Precinct: Kung Fu Hustlers. The higher ranking Avengers 51 league-mates were going to be hard to defeat. "Fighting them is going to be an uphill battle."

The rest of the league members nodded, not saying much. Compared to the constant chatter of his previous league, The Star Force, Legacy of Spawn members were silent as church mice. Three league wars with them and he still knew Krystal Fae best of any of them. He wondered if other people jumping from league to league found it as difficult. Starmaster preferred being a part of a team he knew and understood well. The constant shifting and trading of players in other leagues would drive him mad.

But it was most fair to the league he created to depart. His experience and levels of power far outdistanced Chained Angel, Highlander, and Lykos, even after his time away from the Star Force. Rules made him relocate for the last two league wars. Now he was torn. Should he stay with the LoS, or return to the league he created now that the rules allowed it?

Re: Collaborative Fiction: League War Birthday Bash- Snapshots

Starmaster
"The match-ups for Round 2 have been posted. Good luck to all leagues." A cool, precise robotic voice announced over the loudspeakers aboard the Stellar Arena.

Activating his BADGE communication device, Starmaster checked the link for Round 2 of League War Birthday Bash Battle Round Assignments. He closed his eyes and then slowly opened them as the screen loaded.

"Hey, we don't have to go up against the Avenger 51 for next round," Starmaster called out to the rest of the Legacy of Spawn league-members in their lounge. "We get to pummel some jokers from the 5th Precinct first."

Typically, Starmaster secretly dreaded entering a battle round and going up against other leagues. He didn't want to fight people who had the same goals and purpose of being super-powered heroes he had. But ever since the leader of the 5th Precinct leagues, a slimy manipulator known then as The Closer, tried to pull the wool over his eyes before an earlier league war event, Starmaster looked forward to proving his mettle against the 5th.

Starmaster knew he should be above such petty, childish behavior, but for some reason, he couldn't lay his animosity aside. The Closer, now going by the name of Legionnaire Solomon as if he were some type of divinity, continuously tried to thwart the Star Force and its recruitment efforts. The self-gratifying behavior of So-Low-Man even followed Starmaster to his participation with the Legacy of Spawn. For some reason, Legionnaire Solo felt the need to attack the LoS HQ, damaging their Craftroom and Training grounds, just because it bolstered the 5th Precinct's leaders delusions of being threatening, intimidating, or even respected.

His LoS leaguemates only laughed and shook their heads in amusement at The Closer/Legionnaire So-Low-Man's attempts to destroy their base. So-Low-Man's ability to always discover a more debased, deliberate, and scummy means of snubbing a person with differing beliefs or opinions was the one super-power he possessed. Try as he might, rail as he did against their HQ, So-Low-Man was never going to be able to keep the Legacy of Spawn or its members down.

Preparing for the next round of battle, Starmaster couldn't wait to hit the field and vent some of his frustration.
