"Krystal...explain your findings to Director Nova and his people...," said Jaconis.

"Well, Director Nova, the best we can determine from translating the data we downloaded on the planet, the Legion is part of an Empire bent for some reason on conquering any planet where they can find resources to plunder.  When such a planet is located, they release Morphon particles into its environment. This has the  effects of maintaining their current champions meta abilities and producing meta abilities in a small percentage of the populations of most humanoid species."

"We know that most of those that develop meta abilities of any sort tend to use them for their own benefit, which generally means they commit crimes... the more powerful of these come to the Legion's attention, and are, where possible, recruited into their ranks."

"Once they have enough recruits, the Legion conquers the main governmental bodies of the planet and begins the process of stripping that world of resources... once all of the easily exploitable resources are stripped, they remove the populace as slave labor or simply destroy the planet."

"Worst case scenario, then?", stated Director Nova.

"Director Nova, it is my fear that the Legion may be a part of, or at least allied with, a force which destroyed the dimension that I came from originally. I didn't have the information at that time, but certain items that I have translated from the data I downloaded on Planet X point to a shadow organization..."

"I have uncovered that the Legion is the 'military' face of an Empire, ruled by one known as Kruhl, and there are indications within the data that he has allied with a force known as the 'Extra-dimensional Alliance', or EA... it was known that EA was behind the destruction of my original dimension."

"We are going to have to form units of our strongest agents, then...", stated Nova.  I propose that we begin by having our strike teams battle each other, with the results recorded to determine which agents would stand the best chance in facing the Legion... I know that 'heros' may not relish fighting each other, but we must know who has the best chance...", he continued. We will organize the first 'League Wars'."

Time, of course, continues it's inevitable march...  Preparations for the first League Wars are underway, but that doesn't mean that an agent can relax till that day arrives...  The Legion, after all, hasn't decided to wait for us to choose our champions... they continue their plans apace.

Krystal has been summoned and has been waiting for most of the late morning in the outer office of the Director.

"Agent Acidburn... The Director will see you now...", stated the young man seated at the desk beside the door.

As Krystal entered the inner office, she was impressed by the immaculate, if somewhat spartan decor.

"Krystal,...", began the Director, " We, that is I, have been quite impressed with the work you've been doing lately."

"Thank you,  Director.", Krystal replied.

" I know you're busy, what with preparing with your team for the upcoming battles, but something has come up, and I need a competent agent to handle it.  There has been a break-out of prisoners at Purgatory Prison... I know you're well aware of how dangerous some of those villains can be... I have assigned agents to re-capture the prisoners, but the details of the breakout itself point to an inside man, so I can't very well have just anyone investigate the details."

"Please go to Purgatory Prison and investigate.", he concluded.
