Two Days.

Had it only been two days since the glint of gold caught my eye? I was just flying my patrols like any other day. The sun caught something in the alley, and I thought it might be a knife.

Swooping in, I saw a small gold coin sitting there, seemingly gleaming with it's own inner light.  As I approached, an inhuman howl rose from the a nearby dumpster. A man, or what was once a man, came crashing out and lunged for the coin. I could barely make out his words as he mumbled.

"Three.  I found all three."

"Hey buddy, are you ok?  Do you need a hospital?", I asked.

He spun on me like a mad cow, rage rushing over his feral, filthy face. "MINE!", he screamed. "It is MINE! YOoouu can't have it!".  It was then I noticed his shirt, or should I say, his tights. He was wearing super hero tights. Oh no...

The man had turned and ran down the alley, smashing through a fence and cackling as he leaped over a wall. Heroes?  Gone mad?  Over a gold coin?

That was two days ago.  Now, now I understand.  Now I know the joy of finding your own coins.  It isn't madness. No! NO! It is Euphoria. And I have my coins, my four coins.  Just as the clock was at 11:59pm, I grabbed my fourth coin. Just in time.

A maniacal giggle bubbles from my mouth as I clutched my fourth.  Tomorrow, tomorrow I find more!
