Grief and Compassion

"I thought I might find you here, Chase...", said Krystal.

 "... I miss him too.  For a living statue, animated by an alien, he has...had... a very human quality."
"I know that you are grieving right now... given your relationship, or at least what might have been, that is as it should be."

"I, too, have had my losses, and that you probably won't believe me... it's never going to be the same, but it does get better."
 
Krystal held up the moonstone pendant of her necklace and said, " I can give you something that will help... at least a little...".

 "I cannot take away your grief, but I can give you something that will help you cope."

She made a gesture, and suddenly was holding a bejeweled black arm garter.

 "The opal is enspelled in the same manner as my moonstone.  I made this when my human parents died... I sorta lost myself for a few weeks after that, and only some tough love from my friends brought me back."

Krys placed the garter in Chase's hand and turned to leave.

"...'Til we meet again, my brother in spirit...", Krys whispered as she walked away.
