Hints for New Players on Advancing your Character

Advancing Your Character
As you do missions and battle while playing Heroes Rising, you gain experience. Once you get enough experience to advance to the next level, you get points to improve your character’s skills. If you are a new player, you’re bound to ask the question “How should I spend these?”
I know when I started, which wasn’t that long ago, I asked that very same question. I’ve played enough other games to know there are always choices to make that give you a better edge during game play. With five skill choices (Attack, Defense, Movement, Life, and Energy) and two points to spend while leveling, I worried about wasting my points by spending them unwisely.
I’m not going to tell you how to spend your points in this post. There are many theories on what is best (or worst) to do. I’ve looked at many different character skill-builds (found by clicking on a player’s name while in the battle tab) and everyone spends their points a little bit differently. Also, at different points in the game, the need for more points in these skills change.
What I would like to do is give some information to help new players understand which skill impacts which particular aspect of the game.
Here are some tips on what I have learned on the way to level 50:
1) On the Heroes Rising toolbar at the top of the screen is a button for “News”. This opens a blog page titled These City Streets. There you will find the words Heroes Handbook on the left-hand side of the screen. Beneath that, a subsection titled Game Guide. This is where you can find the answers to many of your unanswered questions about the game mechanics, such as what each skill does, using equipment, completing missions, and so much more.
2) Another button on the top left side of the Heroes Rising toolbar is the FB, or Facebook, button. This takes you to the Heroes Rising Facebook Page. There you will find a forum to directly ask questions to other players of Heroes Rising. You can ask advice and questions from players and developers of the game. This is also a good place to meet FRIENDS for your character. More friends equal more powers available for your character to use.
3) Of the five skills, only four of them play direct roles in your battles: Attack, Defense, Movement, and Life.
Attack is the ability to hit an opponent and the amount of damage inflicted.
Defense controls the amount of damage reduction to an attack that hits your character.
Movement determines who attacks first in a battle and the chance to dodge an opponent’s attack.
Life is the amount of health your character has.
4) Energy is still an important skill, but it doesn’t play into the actual battle itself. It is used for completing missions and engaging in Fight Club battles. While in most battles, such as regular Opponent battles, KOTM (King of the Mountain) fights, or when seeking vengeance, you will use a B(Battle) point from your toolbar. Fight Club battles use energy for each battle based on your number of Wins in the tournament. Unless you fight in these arenas, a high energy isn’t needed until you can win multiple rounds. Increasing your energy is a choice to make based on your ability to win individual fights over time, but at some point in the game, you will need to improve this value.
5) Completing missions is a good way to gain experience, gain power cards, make money for purchasing powers, and collect gear. Big HINT: After completing missions or any activity that gains you Bux, remember to bank what you have collected. If your character is fought while possessing unbanked Bux, and loses the battle, they will lose unbanked, hard-earned Bux to their opponent.
6) Have fun while playing. There are lots of opportunities to engage with the community, face down challenging opponents, participate in League Wars or Raids, and advance your character. Explore all the game has to offer. Explore the These City Streets blog for more information on gameplay. Check out the Fiction Forum or read the cannon stories included on the “Lore” tab of the toolbar.  Watch for special events. Do your part in helping fight the Legion. The world is depending on us.

Until next time, may the light of good fortune shine down on you.
