Dear Diary,

Sorry for not writing sooner, but it’s been a busy few weeks for me. First, I’m turned into a cat and chased by some frat boy wannabe thugs.  I escape from them, got captured by them, rescued by Krystal (she is amazing!), help save BADGE from a bomb, made some very cool new friends (Leslie is a doll and Catalyst is amazing-smart!).  Then we had the Tug-Of War between the Vampires and the Werewolves, I was Vampire and we won our division, but lost the war overall.  Then we jumped straight into League War preparations and that was crazy!

I decided to take a leave of absence from Red Guard to learn more about how the bigger leagues work and meet the other heroes who are out there.  I joined the 5th Precinct family and was assigned to their Kung-Fu Hustle team.  They are a bunch of great heroes! Some of them are very powerful and some just beginning.  It was an experience watching the old hands mentor the very new heroes through their first battles.

But I also learned that building a winning team is more than just having a powerful line-up.  There are a lot of powerful heroes out there and there are many strong leagues.  For the past four League Wars, the Avengers have been the dominant force, winning first place in all the divisions they have competed.  The leaders for 5th precinct are hoping to break their monopoly on the top spot.

It made my head hurt watching all the strategy that goes into team composition, scouting, opponent analysis, opponent predictions....The amount of work that goes into it is staggering!  I always thought it was essentially a matter of “point and shoot”!  Just point your fighters and an opponent and tell to give it their best and pray that you get a win, or at least aren’t crushed too badly. I think I’ll leave all that thinking to professionals!

However, we did have to face the Avengers team in a Division 4 match-up for our first round.  They are definitely tough!  They beat us 163-126.  I thought it was going to be close, but they pulled ahead early and just maintained their lead. And they were very business-like about their fighting.  No trash-talking or goading us into bad moves during the fight.  They just came out swinging and didn’t stop until they secured the win. I’m sore, but satisfied.  It was good getting the experience a beat down by the Avengers can give you!

From what I can see, the next couple of round will be just as hard.  We have to face ‡BคPƮ♦Z€Đ BⱠ๏๏Đ Wค℞℞♦๏℞S ‡ and RG-Creatures of the Night and they both look tough.  I know some of the heroes from RG-Creatures of the Night from my time in Red Guard, so I expect to have a rough go of it.

I don’t know what it is, but something about this month doesn’t feel...real, I guess.  Chase has been missing for a while now and everyone is worried about her.  Rumor has it she’s been working for Krampus, but I don’t believe it.  She always seemed so focused and so dedicated to BADGE.  I know she was a thief before, and her skills are the best in the world, but I don’t see her working for a monster like Krampus.

I have to go, Diary.  Even though I’m a superhero and competing in BADGE’s League War, preparing to face The Legion when they finally make their move, I’m still someone who needs to get to work to pay a crushing tuition debt!  If only I could get a job using my degree, but not to many jobs out there for an art history major.  Maybe I should go back to school and get a better degree....

Love,
Allyson
