From one of the shadowed corners a fairy arose from the table she was occupying and flew in the direction of the bar.  It was plain to all that she was quite intoxicated already, as she flew quite slowly, and was apparently unable to maintain either her forward momentum nor her height above the floor for more than a few wingbeats.

She approached Syren, who was having a murmured conversation with Alexis.

"Sy-rn, whoosh the cute huu-man ovr there?", asked the inebriated fairy.

Alexis spoke to her, "Rose... be careful... you know what happened last time...", he said quietly.

"Pah-sha, Osssifer... I mere lee wanted to buy him a dink... drink.", she said, just a touch too loudly.

"Very well...", said Alexis, "... but as I said, be careful."

Rose asked for refills for herself and Chaz, then flew over, somewhat unsteadily, and asked him, "Yu ar cuuute... Will yu hav' a dink wid meeee?"

Before Chaz could answer, Rose placed his refill on the table next to him, settled next to him on the bench, and promptly fell asleep, leaning against his arm and snoring softly.

Chaz, rather perplexed, signaled Alexis for attention and asked, "What do I do?"

Alexis nodded, held up a finger, stepped outside, and was followed back in by Hamer, who gently picked up the unconscious fairy, and took her up the stairs to sleep it off.

Re: Trip to a Fae Realm: A collaborative Fairy Tale (by invitation only please)

The Sword of Gerraxia
Gerri was stimulated with curiosity.  Being the first time to the Fae-re, she was surprised by how they handled the mundane things she saw on Earth.  When she asked for Fey Wine they gave her a glass.  It was wonderful.  She passed a note to Chaz, as she knew he wanted some of the wine Futurina had at the poker game a few months ago.  It read "You want to order Black Cherry Wine of Dark Elf vintage.  Futurina gets her wine from Svartalheimr not Alfheim."

Gerri knew the two realms were related and that Dark Elves actually treated Futurina as one of them.  Better than any member of her own race had ever treated her besides her friends of Gerraxia's crew.  She also knew many a dwarfish trader would bring Black Cherry wine here for consumption.  Not quite the same vintage but close enough for any human tongue.  Futurina would probably barter for a better vintage.

A rather brawny elf from the elvish weaponsmith shoppe sat down beside Gerri.  "Now that ring be a reworked sword.  I'd recognize my grandfathers work anywhere," he stated.

"Yor grandfathers work?" Gerri asked.  "This used to be my great grandmothers sword.  It was shattered.  My father took some pieces and forged my ring."

"Aye, great work with that," he commended.  "He even kept the runes needed for Gerraxia to control the old powers."
"Swords are for fighting."

As the glow of the late afternoon sun faded from the tavern's windows, the room became more crowded, and several additional servers began to move between the tables.

Finally, a lovely Elvish maiden carrying a mandolin mounted the stage, seated herself on a stool and began to tune her instrument.

Satisfied at last, she plucked out a sad little instrumental tune for several minutes.

She then began the next song...

Lullaby From a Distant Land -

Hön'marën kena-uva kala
Indönya ullumeá
Nör'ande sëra mi lorien
Im'eri ratö naya

Larya nîn mëlissè
Le sinte îma sinomë
ána sama lemî oloorë
Le ar'uunèr ana kaurë

Uur'anor wannëa
Isilme va'arya
telume siila there

Na'are utumno wanya
Erüma, helkàda
Raanè ressè

Lörna à'kuilä
Vàrna mi'olör
Türma ei ràumo
Sinomë

Gerraxia hummed along, recognizing the words, but Allyson and Chaz looked confused.
She whispered to Alexis... he nodded, murmured a few phrases, and then gestured towards the two of them.

As the bard began her next song, they understood the lyrics as well as if they were in English.

Re: Trip to a Fae Realm: A collaborative Fairy Tale (by invitation only please)

The melodic bard continued to play and Chaz found her music soothing. Too soothing. When he went out to a bar or for entertainment, he preferred more of a party or rock'n'roll vibe. Her music reminded him of the yoga class he joined Romana at several months ago that played nothing but Yanni and Enya. His spirit needed to be energized, pumped up to help him make his decision, not lulled into a dreamlike state where he could feel more adrift than he already did in this strange place.

The audience enjoyed her performance, and he joined them while they clapped as she finished her song. She played a third song which could have been straight from the Fellowship of the Ring, highlighting an epic journey of one of Gerraxia's ancestors. The performance clearly pleased Geri and the rest of the crowd who knew of the source material and gave her a standing ovation.

"My, my (her accent made the words sound more like 'maei, maei), aren't ye just a lovely bunch of people. I found myself well pleased when I heard that one of Gerraxia's scions was in the audience tonight. I hope I did your family justice," the bard said with a rosy smile. "I'm Cel'estra, if'n the strangers here all be wondering me name, but I think most of ye know it by now, being my friends and kin as you all are."

A hoot of support came from all directions.

"Being that some of ye are new to the Syren, here, I want to do my best to make ye all feel at home. I do not know all the songs that have been written, but I know many. Would any of ye like to hear something that makes ye think of home? A loved one ye may be thinkin' of?" She looked over the crowd until her gaze fell on Chaz and she smiled warmly. "Perhaps a song to lift a weight from your weary shoulders?"

Chaz barely noticed her attention, instead he stared blankly into his tankard.

Cel'estra strummed her lute with a more rapid, more intense timber.

Pling pling pling, pli-pli-plink plink. Pling pling pling, pli-pli-plink plink.

"Mmm num ba de
Dum bum ba be
Doo buh dum ba beh beh"

Chaz raised his head and faced the stage, a surprised smile in breaking the corners of his mouth

"Pressure pushing down on me
Pressing down on you, no man ask for
Under pressure that burns a building down
Splits a family in two
Puts people on streets"

The crowd applauded just as loudly when she finished playing the acoustic version of the David Bowie classic, but Chaz joined in at the end with far more enthusiasm.

"Thank ye, thank ye. I learned this little ditty when I toured with Annie Lennox and the Eurythmics a few years ago." Cel'estra stood up and rolled her shoulders as she rotated her neck. "There. Doesn't that song just help yer body push what ails right out of ye? How about something by this band I knew named the Cranberries. A lovely lass made this song quite popular with the people of her realm."

Cel'estra began to play another song with a very recognizable power chord.

"Another head hangs lowly
Child is slowly taken
And the violence caused such silence
Who are we mistaken

But you see it's not me
It's not my family
In your head, in your head
They are fighting
With their tanks and their bombs
And their bombs and their guns
In your head, in your head
They are cryin'

In your head, in your head
Zombie, zombie, zombie, hey, hey
What's in your head, in your head
Zombie, zombie, zombie, hey, hey, hey, oh"

Re: Trip to a Fae Realm: A collaborative Fairy Tale (by invitation only please)

The Sword of Gerraxia
Gerri was enjoying the music and watching Chaz to see if he lightened up a bit.  She was also interested in what the weaponsmith had to say.

"What do you mean, 'the runes to help Gerraxia control the old powers'?" Gerri questioned.  "What exactly are the old powers?"

"The old powers are a direct connection to the divine that controls everything.  Known by many names," the weaponsmith explained.  "Most elves access this through study of arcane books, spells, and runes.  Clerics, both medical and preachers access their divine magic through prayers, the old powers bypass both and goes directly to the source.  This can be very dangerous, as the elf with the old powers may not realize it and alter reality as they wish on a whim.  The runes keep things from changing randomly.  They must focus on the power and what they wish to do.  They don't have to use spells or runes or prayers.  They just focus on what they want to happen."

"Interesting," Gerri commented.  "So the old powers run in my bloodline, but rarely manifest?  When it does they seek to control them?"

"Exactly," the weaponsmith confirmed, "When the morphon particles reactivated the old powers in you, they also reactivated the runes to help you control those powers.  You are far more powerful than you realize, but there is reason not to use the full extent of those abilities."
"Swords are for fighting."

Futurina was taken to stand before the Queen of the Elves Mor'Ning'Glori.  Her ice blue eyes sparkled and she smiled at the beautiful young elf.  She was weary of what might be said and how she felt about Krystal's decree.  She knelt in respect to the queen but did not lower her eyes.

"So, you're the freak that grandfather wanted to be my mother," Mor'Ning'Glori stated.  She noted Collette watching with interest nearby.  "Mother was always afraid of you.  I do not know why?"

"M'eric Ly'dia did not like my psionic powers," Futurina explained.  "She feared them as she did not understand them."

"How does one divine the future without a divination spell?" the Queen questioned.

"Like this," Futurina said as her eyes began to glow.  "You will have a long and happy reign, Queen Mor'Ning'Glori.  Tell your mother, I forgive her.  I know she brings happiness to my Prince Brien."

"I will, but that is an unusual ability you have," Mor'Ning'Glori marveled.  "I see why grandfather wanted to add it to our family.  Do you have any children, Theressoelae?"

"I do, all are half elves save my adopted daughter Keri, who is human," Futurina replied.  "The crown would never accept the tainted blood of an half elf."

"True," Mor'Ning'Glori agreed.  "Does your adopted child have the same powers you do?"

"Similar, but not the same," Futurina clarified.  "She is not a precog, but does have powerful psionics."

"I would like to meet her," Mor'Ning'Glori stated.  "Perhaps the Princess would be willing to bring her next time.  It has been a pleasure to speak with you Theressolae, to meet the infamous Freak.  I must speak to the Princess now.  By your leave." Futurina bowed to consent.

Mor'Ning'Glori approached Krystal and asked for a private audience.

Krystal, studied the Elf for a few moments to gauge her mood, then acquiesced.

Krystal showed her into an unoccupied room nearby and asked Mor'Ning'Glori to sit.

"First, let me say, Princess, that I am not entirely displeased by your action in resolving this rather unpleasant situation.", stated the elf.

"It was, according to the documentation, the King's original decree that Theressolae be banished from the Elven Kingdom, not the entirety of Fae-re."

"Other members of the Council added to the decree, expanding the sentence... My mother added the requirement that she be labeled 'The Freak", as well as the one that, should she return for any purpose, that all elves must address her in that manner.", she continued.

"It was Bri'ghtst'eel, who added that she be shackled, and her powers bound by gold, and Ni'ghtshad'ow who added that her contributions be removed from our history and that the banishment be extended to all of Fae-re.", she concluded.

"Let's face facts, my own perceptions of Theressolae have been colored by the low regard these personages have held for her... be that as it may, given what added information my Father has provided, I do appreciate that you have found a way to resolve the situation in a satisfactory manner, without violating the sovereignty of the Elvish Throne... You have my thanks."

Mor'Ning'Glori stood and stepped towards the door.

Krystal also stood, and said, "T'was never my intention to overturn the power which is yours by right... I merely wished to right what in my thoughts was an unjust outcome.  I am glad we can part as friends..."

Re: Trip to a Fae Realm: A collaborative Fairy Tale (by invitation only please)

Silver Paladin
The entertainment at the tavern went on well into the evening. People drifted in through the doors and stayed even past the point where all available seats had been filled. Chaz joined Gerri and Crossroads at their table, allowing others to sit where he once sought isolation. Drinks flowed freely, but not nearly as the applause and laughter shared by all guests and employees of the Syren's Song.

"Can you believe she toured with Fleetwood Mac?" Chaz asked his HR-Dimension Companions. "I never knew so many Fae folk wormed their way into our society."

"They love art and beauty, as well as nature. I bet at least one-quarter of the people in attendance at Woodstock were connected to the Fae Realm." Gerri said.

"I wouldn't doubt that a bit," Crossroads said. She turned to wave down a serving wench for a fresh round and froze. "What? What is he doing here?"

"Who?" Chaz asked as he twisted in his chair so he could follow her gaze.

Standing in the entrance of the tavern, Silver Paladin stood with his helmet tucked under one arm, nodding along to Cel'estra as she performed The Mummer's Dance. His disheveled hair and scruffy beard gave him a certain wild look, but the easy smile on his face took Chaz most by surprise. Silver Paladin rarely showed mirth or amusement to any noticeable degree. "What the heck?"

Silver Paladin raised his free hand to the three of them and sauntered into the crowd, gliding through the throng of people as if they were water. "They told me at the castle that you guys were here. She's great, isn't she."

Chaz stood up from his seat. "How are you awake? I thought-"

"You did," Silver Paladin interrupted with a nudge to Chaz's ribs with an elbow. "How many times have we told you that you think too much? Everything's fine."

"You were unconscious when we left, fading in and out." Gerri said.

"Yeah. Puck explained it all to me. We took care of the problem," Silver Paladin said.

"So you're OK now?" Crossroads said. "I know I haven't been with you guys most of the day, but Chaz said you needed to have some kind of surgery or transplant to survive here. To separate your life force from Chaz."

"All done," Silver Paladin said. "It's been taken care of."

"By who?" Chaz asked. "Puck said they needed a part of me to implant in you."

Silver Paladin looked at the bar and created a Shadow Clone opposite the bartender. It grabbed four tankards of ale and walked through (and by through, it means he passed like a ghost in and out of people's bodies) the crowd with the beverages held high. "He found a donor."

Chaz knew Silver Paladin well. He would never 'pinch' items away from their proper owners, even if they were only drinks going to a different table. His code of ethics were as prim and honorable as the most earnest boy scout. "Paladin, what's going on? You're awfully light-hearted for a guy who's typically pretty stoic."

"Meh," Silver Paladin said. "I guess I have a slightly different perspective now. I needed to take the stick out of my ass, I guess. And it's sterling."

"Sterling." Chaz repeated. "What's sterling?"

"My name. Sterling. Sterling Knight. I don't know why I put off picking a name for myself for so long." Silver Paladin, or Sterling Knight, took the tankards from his duplicate and passed them out to his companions before it disappeared. "Here's to us, and of course, my donor."

"Who was your donor?" Gerri asked.

"Puck, of course," Sterling answered just before taking a long swig of his ale. "It was his magic that caused me to be born. He said he could take Chaz's place in the procedure so there would be no need for Chaz to sacrifice any of himself for me. It sounded like a very fair deal, if you ask me. Which you did."

Gerri and Chaz exchanged worried glances as Silver Paladin chugged the contents of the tankard down and slammed the empty mug on the table.

Re: Trip to a Fae Realm: A collaborative Fairy Tale (by invitation only please)

Crossroads

Allyson enjoyed listening to Cel’estra play the traditional music of the Fae-Re dimension.  She was wondering if she could get some music to take home with her.  It was very soothing.  However, Allyson’s jaw just about hit the floor when she started playing Under Pressure by David Bowie!  Cel’estra was more than amazing!

Allyson never even entertained the thought that other Fae would visit her world.  “I mean, yeah its obvious, now that I think about it,” she mused. “After all, Krystal is there, Futurina is there, and Gerri is of Fae descent as well.  And all those tales of the Fae and Elven Courts... Shakespeare even wrote about Oberon, Titania, and Puck!  It just never clicked before.”

Allyson sat back and listened in awe as Cel’estra talked about her time With Annie Lennox, the Cranberries, Fleetwood Mac, and other famous and not so famous artists. Cel’estra played whatever she thought fit the mood of her audience as a whole or sometimes focused on a patron who she sensed needed something to ease their pain, stress, melancholy, or anger.  She was an Adept Mistress of “reading the room.”

Cel’estra said she was taking a break to lubricate her  voice for her second set.  It seemed the room let out a wistful sigh at her announcement.

“Aw, nae, my friends!  I be but a few moments and I shall return to lighten your hearts with that medicine that heals all...me music!” Cel’estra reassured her fans.

The spell momentarily broken by the silence, Allyson glanced around the room.  She noticed that Young Merlin had his head resting on the table in front of him, snoring softly, with a small pool of drool forming.  The other two Merlins were in an animated discussion about something that sounded like chemistry but used things like dew drops or liquid moonlight for reactants. Regardless of how animated the discussion was, they seemed to go out of their way to not disturb Young Merlin.

Looking around the tavern, Allyson thought she would love to own a place like this one day.  It was obviously a place of business, yet it was also very homey and comforting.  Syren looked over all her guests like a mother looking after her boisterous children.  Well, most of the patrons, at least.  She had a whole different attitude towards Alexis. Sometimes it looked as if no one else in the entire world existed to them but each other. Yet Syren was able to direct the operations of her establishment without missing a beat, and Alexis was always preternaturally aware of where everyone else in the room was at all times.

Allyson was distracted by movement at the door.  She glanced over and saw Silver Paladin entering the tavern.

====================================================

After recovering from the appearance of Silver Paladin, now Sterling Knight, in the tavern and his strange behavior, Allyson was distracted by the elder Merlin’s apparent increased interest in her.  He was going so far as to keep nudging the middle Merlin with his elbow and wagging his chin in her direction while talking excitedly to the middle Merlin.  Merlin the Younger continued to snore softly and drool.

Allyson stood up and approached the Merlin table. “Excuse me, gentlemen.  I understand you are the Merlins, correct?”

“Yes, we are, young lady,” the Elder Merlin answered.  “Please, have a seat.  We would like to talk to you a bit, if you please?”  The Chair nearest Allyson slid out silently of its own accord.

“Thank you. My name is Allyson, also known as Crossroads.  I have been curious about something,” Allyson began. “Why does it seem that I know you?  Why do you seem interested in me?  I have never met you before.”

“Ah, my dear Allyson, why should we not be interested in a beautiful young woman as yourself, hmmm?” the Middle Merlin replied charmingly. “A face and form like yours is sure to draw the eye and invite attention and interest from many men – “

“And women, “ interjected Elder Merlin with a sly smile.

“– and women,” agreed Middle Merlin. “

Allyson blushed hotly, her face becoming noticeably red.  She stammered for a reply. “But, but but, that’s not what I am talking about!”

“We know, lovely one, we know, but we cannot but help appreciate your beauty, especially when you are so fetchingly dressed in the garb of this realm!” said Middle Merlin with a leer and a laugh.

Allyson looked down at her outfit and turned even redder, if possible, realizing that the outfit that she imagined into existence had a lot more décolletage showing than she anticipated.  A lot more.  Her outfit immediately became much more modest, although it retained its Renaissance Faire look.
“Aaw, and we were enjoying the view greatly...” the Merlins sighed in unison.

“Although it is probably fortunate that our young companion here,” Elder Merlin indicated the sleeping Merlin, “has fallen asleep.  Else he would probably would have had a nosebleed from the fan service. But he is young and inexperienced in how to handle such stimulating visual delights.”

“Be that as it may, ‘gentlemen” – and I use the term reservedly, now,” Allyson said with a glower. ” – that was not why I approached you. I have the feeling we have met, but I have no memory of it and you seem to know me.”

“Ah, but we have met fair lady!” Elder Merlin exclaimed. “We have met many times and in many places!  At least, we have met many ‘yous’, if not the specific you sitting her.”

Allyson looked confused for a moment as she parsed out Merlin’s sentence.  Then it dawned on her. “Oh!  You have met other dimensional versions of myself!  That explains how you seem to know me.  But why should I seem to know you?”

“Resonance, Allyson, resonance,“ explained Elder Merlin cryptically.

“Give her more, Merlin, don’t draw it out!” Middle Merlin scolded the Elder. “Sorry, he likes to tease people with drips and drabs of information.  By ‘resonance’ he means that because other versions of you have met us, there is a shared resonance from your mental gestalt with the other Crossroads who have met us.  It causes a little niggling in the back of your mind that you somehow know us without having actually met us. It is probably made stronger by our presence in Fae-Re.”

“Why should that affect it?”

“Well,” he continued, “you would probably feel it if we met in any dimension, but the Fae realm is one of the multiverse’s dimensional anchors. It closely touches a multitude of other dimensions. Closely enough that the dimensional barriers between the Fae Realm and the other dimensions are thin enough that there is a ‘psychic spillover’ from the Fae into those dimensions.

“Psychic spillover?”

The Elder Merlin took over.  Gesturing to the middle of the table, a three-dimensional image appeared depicting overlapping worlds. “The dimensions touch the Fae Realms closely enough that it can invade the dreams of those who are sensitive enough.  That is how each of those realms have so many stories about Elves, Dwarves, Fairies, the Fae Courts – albeit, in disjointed and mostly inaccurate forms.”

“Oh, I see.  That makes sense, I guess...So you travel across dimensions?” Allyson asked.

“Of course!” exclaimed Elder Merlin. “We’re Merlin!  We also share something else in common with you. We also exist in almost every dimension that humans exist in...at least as far as we can tell.”

“Um...doesn’t everybody?” Allyson asked.

“Dear me, no,” Middle Merlin explained. “Many people only exist in a relatively few dimensions – although, ‘relatively’ few when speaking of an infinite number of dimensions is still a staggeringly large number – because the decision path that results in the birth of a single specific individual is infinitely complex and one small change to that path can cause that person not to be born.”

“However,” Elder Merlin picked up the lecture, “there are a few people who, despite the infinite complexity involved, exist in almost all dimensions.  These people, like the Rae Realm, are considered ‘dimensional anchors,’ also. Dimensional anchors, we believe, are what keep the multiverse from ‘fracturing’ for wont of a better turn.  We don’t know what would happen if the anchors disappeared, but we assume it wouldn’t be a good thing since the multiverse went to the considerable trouble to create those anchors.

Allyson’s head was spinning with all this information.  However, she was absolutely fascinated and spent the remainder of the night drinking with the Merlins. She learned a lot about dimensional travel – the dangers, what to look out for, why they don’t implode, disappear, or otherwise cause the destruction of the universe when meeting their alternates, and, most importantly to Allyson, how to cross the dimensional barrier from one dimension into another.

Allyson was definitely going to be working on that!

The Sword of Gerraxia
This post was updated on .
As Gerri and the others prepared to leave, she watched Crossroads talking to three Merlins.  Silver Paladin, now known as Sterling Knight and Chaz were having a great discussion.  She didn't want to intrude on.  Her thoughts went back to what was the reason she came.  Her book and the missing information about Futurina.

She smiled at her great grandfather.  It was nice meeting him.  At least she knew where some of that healing talent came from, even if he was disappointed she didn't follow his path.  She did learn a great deal about the old powers.

So, it turns out the runes weren't meant to help the powers but to make it so no accidents happen while using them.  It was a good thing to have.  It probably kept her from changing the world when Redd Capp appeared.  That would be embarrassing.

They returned to the castle and all went to their chambers.  Gerri readied herself for bed and looked out the window to the wonderful Fae-re.  She smiled and opened the book to her favorite tale of her great grandmother, Gerraxia Goldenstar.  She read until she fell asleep.

There was a quiet knocking on the door when she awoke, "Miss, you are requested to attend breakfast with the others of your group," a maid stated.  "I have it on good authority that you will be seeing Lexi today.  I hope that goes well for you."

When Gerri reached the dining hall, Krystal was already seated. She looked both well-rested and perhaps slightly less tense than Gerri had seen her look in months.

Also seated were Leo, Alexis, and a man Gerri had never met was seated to Krystal's left.

Gerri strongly suspected that this was Krystal's husband, Alex.

As the others filed into the dining area and took seats, Krystal smiled and nodded to acknowledge each new arrival.

Finally, Krystal and the man to her left rose, and Krystal said to everyone, "Good Morning, everyone... I trust that everyone enjoyed their evening... I know I did... and that we are ready to move on to other activities?  This, as you may have suspected, is my husband, Alex...".

Alex grinned and greeted them like old friends, even though he had never met most of the group.

"While it has been years since her last visit home, Krystal and I communicate frequently by telepathy, so I, of course, know all of you far better than you know me... that, I hope, will soon change.", said Alex.

Krystal signaled Theressolae and Gerri for attention, as the others greeted Alex individually.

"I feel that we should make a visit to the Elven Archives today... Lexi'khan needs to be 're-educated', I believe...", said Krystal, with a grin.

Re: Trip to a Fae Realm: A collaborative Fairy Tale (by invitation only please)

Silver Paladin
After they all took their seats again, Chaz strolled into the dining hall with a dour look on his face as he kept turning his neck watchfully over his shoulder. "Morning, Gerri. Krystal. The rest of you." His sandy brown hair flopped around a bit as his shook his head purposefully, as if trying to force a greater level of awareness out of his shadowed eyes. "I'm sorry. I'll remember your names after a cup of coffee. Have any of you seen Silver yet?"

"I take it you had a pleasant evening at the Syren's Song," Krystal said before shifting her gaze to the man beside her. "Alex, this is Chaz Hamilton, a co-worker of mine from the Sentinel."

"I'm pleased to make your acquaintance in person," Alex said as an amused smile broke across his face. "Although, I do have to say your reputation does proceed you. Krystal's shared some curious stories about you over the past year. I'm her husband."

Gerri turned her face away, not letting Chaz see the giggle readying to escape her lips at the perturbed look that draped over his typical brash swagger.

"Nice to meet you, too," Chaz said. "I knew she was married, but she doesn't talk about you nearly as much as it appears she seems to go on about me. It's nice to see that you actually exist. For awhile, I thought you were just a figment of her imagination until she announced she was pregnant."

"I'm as real as can be, fortunately," Alex said as he took Krystal's hand as she leaned forward to speak. "Our relationship is strong, despite our time apart. I'm grateful she has such good friends to keep her company, and entertained, until we can reunite. She speaks truthfully, but highly, of all of you."

Chaz bowed his head in acknowledgement, seeming relieved at Alex's response. "Good to know. She's quite a handful. How do you put up with her sometimes?"

"I've always been good with my hands," Alex said as he tightened his grip on Krystal's own hand. He lifted his arm and brought the back of her hand to his lips, where he placed a tender kiss upon it. "And other things."

Krystal blushed while her eyebrow darted up. "You are both so foolishly encourageable."

Alex smiled and kissed her hand again.

"Have any of you seen Silver this morning?" Chaz asked.

"He's awake?" Krystal said with some surprise to her voice. "I did not realize that you had decided how to proceed yet."

"I didn't. He and Puck came up with something between the two of them," Chaz said. "Somehow Puck cured him while we were at the tavern."

"Puck did what!?" Krystal pursed her lips, clearly irritated. "How?"

"I'm not entirely sure, but Sterling... that's what Silver's chosen for his name now... he told me that Puck transplanted a bit of himself into him to replace what he wanted from me," Chaz said. "We all came back from the tavern last night, and it might be just me, but Silver's not acting like he was before. He's much... freer. More happy-go-lucky but also a bit more self-motivated. I'm worried."

"No need to, my boy. No need at all," Puck said as he and an unarmored Silver Paladin enter the dining hall through a wall. Without his armor, it is clear that Chaz and the newly named Sterling are identical to one another, but for some variations in facial and head hair. Sterling currently sports longer hair, pulled into a man-bun, and a trimmed goatee. His clothing is a more dramatic change, as he is currently wearing garb more appropriate to the Fae-Re world than Chaz's jeans and long-sleeve shirt. "Our friend here is simply able to experience more than the idealized concept of a noble hero than the chao-crisis created him into."

Puck looked at those gathered in the dining hall and smiled, giving each person a sly nod. "So, what are we having today? Gruel? Underdeveloped chicken spawn and charred hindquarter of pig? McMuffins?"

"We didn't expect you would be joining us this morning," Krystal said. "The invitation was to my companions so they could meet my husband. Alex, you know Puck, don't you dear?"

"We've bumped into one another, occasionally in you absence." Alex said coolly.

"Now, Alex. I thought we'd forgiven one another for that last... happenstance." Puck feigned wringing his hands. "I was merely giving a tour to some Kender. They asked so nicely to see more of the castle."

"That was very generous of you. Unfortunately taking them into the royal vaults wasn't the best of attractions for them. All those bright and shiny coins and baubles made of gold. You didn't think once that Kender might find those items a bit... triggering?"

"An error is semantics. Who knew they viewed ownership so differently?" Puck twirled a finger in his hair absentmindedly.

"Pretty much everyone else in the kingdom," Alex said.

"Well, after your course in the rules of property acquisition, and a few hours of chasing them through the main hall and bedrooms, and of course the stables, kitchens, lavatories, attics,... have I forgotten any of the hiding places you tracked them down?" Puck nearly drooled as he spoke, his chuckles punctuating his fondness of the memory.

"The abandoned sewers and the moathouse." Alex said. "We still haven't found several of the missing artifacts from the Second Age."

"It isn't as if anyone was using them. And the Kender were able to go back home and tell some wonderful stories about their time here. I call that a success in diplomacy. They can't wait to come back," Puck said with satisfied smirk.

*"Even I am aware that the Kender race is one unfortunately accustomed to viewing all valuables as their own without taking no for an answer," Collette said with a small mirthful peal of laughter as she entered silently after Puck and Sterling Knight. "They remind me much of a similar race from a certain other literary universe I have visited that have been nicknamed "G'home Gnomes" because they are such unwanted guests they must be forced to leave almost all the time. But to call you one would be an insult to them Puck so I will graciously hold my tongue."

She looked very tired and exhausted as though she had not rested or slept in several weeks. "Oh don't mind my appearance. My healing magic has just been taking a very physical toll on me costwise."*

The Sword of Gerraxia
"My goodness, Collette, what have you been doing?" Gerri was shocked by Collette's appearance.  "I hope it wasn't because of what my great grandfather said."

"I do not believe so," Futurina suggested.  "I remember seeing her at the ball yesterday night.  Perhaps something required her attention during the night?  I could use my abilities to find out, but not without permission as we are among friends.  Something to do with the Unseely Court?" Futurina questioned as an image popped into her head.  She looked to Puck.

"Don't look at me," Puck stated.  He then realized she wasn't.  She had seen a snippet of the future but not enough to piece things together.  He smiled sheepishly.

"Therresoelae, is everything alright?" Krystal asked having noticed a brief flash in her eyes.

Gerri did a quick cantrip to clean up Collette.  "I can't do anything to refresh you, perhaps some good berries?" she offered to Collette.

"I am not sure," Futurina stated.  "That flash did not provide enough information.  I'll make a note.  I believe we have other items on our agenda."
"Swords are for fighting."

*"Trust me this is something much more impactful to me and my Academy then having old allies of Morganna from the Unseelie Court conspiring against you and us Krystal'lynn." Collette slowly took a few calming breathes.

*"For the past couple of days here now, since time here flows different then back on our regular Earth, my mental magical connection to my Academy has been receiving...... interference so to speak. I can see images of the Academy and Earth but I currently am unable to discern thoughts or emotions with my magic. It is troubling to say the very least. As well I have been having dreams of my lost brother-in-law who vanished decades ago when old demon enemies of ours, whom you know of Krystal'lynn and Alex, took over the Academy for a time in another world that existed long before superheroes or the Legion or Morphons even existed."

"I secretly have been having a growing premonition since we arrived here that something from my past has been interfering with my magic and it is clear I can not keep these secrets for much longer but I need permission to disclose them and unfortunately I do not trust Puck with this knowledge due to the chaotic neutral magic he is known to resonate with wherever he goes."*

"First you sling insults at me before we've even sat down to breakfast together this morning and now you seek to try to keep secrets from me. And to think, I once thought we could be friends," Puck said as he picked some grapes from a stem upon a silver tray. They withered and turned brown as he fumbled with them, letting them strike the floor as he trod over them. "Very, very sour, Collette. Too sour for my taste. I will take my leave of you all."

Puck walked to the archway leading out of the room. Just as he was about to disappear behind the corner of the wall, he turned to the collected group. "I wouldn't worry about the withered remnant you call home, and your level of skill is that of a snake-oil saleswoman. Your words upon my ears are like hot air escaping from a bellows, loud but harmless. Both your chatter and your home are nearly forgotten as they drift meaninglessly into the past, like bell-bottoms and chamberpots. The world of Morphons Krystal has introduced me to is much more interesting and full of life. That is where all attention should be. I know mine will be."

With that, he disappeared in a green mist. A very noxious mist that nearly immediately filled the entire dining room with the odor of rotten eggs. Several tried to cast spells or effect to remove the stench, but nothing managed to dissipate it. All present were forced to leave the room, covering their noses with whatever cloth was handy.

As the left the hall, Krystal was gagging from the noxious gas.  Futurina thought of how this was very much like Puck.  Though, it was funny, it was also dangerous to those who were not the intended target.  At times she wished he would grow up, but she realized that he would lose his charm if he did.  It was clear that he had a disdain for Collette.  There was probably nothing she could say that would appease him now.  He would take his vengeance in time woe be to Collette.

"Krystal, perhaps we should change and be off to see Lexi?" Futurina suggested.  "After you wretch, that is."  She saw how ill Krystal was looking.  Puck hadn't thought of how that noxious gas might affect the princess.  Typical.

After Escorting Krystal to her chambers, Futurina walked to her chambers.  She dressed in her typical blue leather armor, and blue leather bikers jacket.  She walked to the foyer where she would meet Gerri and Krystal before meeting with Lexi.

Krystal Fae (Acidburn)

Still looking slightly nauseous, Krystal led the others outside... as the air freshened, Krystal recovered quickly.

"Once we are away from the wards, I can teleport us to the Elven borders... from there, it is not far to the Archives... Gerri, Theressolae... if you are ready, we'll be on our way.", said Krystal.

The three began their journey.

Alex gave orders to one of the staff to clear the stench as quickly as possible, then gathered the remaining members of the party.

"I'm afraid it will take some time to remove the signs of Robyn's ire... it would probably be best if we found other environs to occupy for the rest of the morning.  Sterling, is it? I thought we might engage in a friendly hunt if that interests you...", said Alex.

Sterling nodded with a mighty grin.

"Any of you others may join in if you'd like...", commented Alex.

Collette spoke, saying "I have never really enjoyed the sport, and in any case, I have other business to attend..."

Chaz, wanting to keep an eye on Sterling, sighed and said, "I guess I'll tag along... but I'm not killing any animals."

Alex nodded solemnly... "Probably wise, since you have not the senses to determine if it is a true beast or one of the transformed.", he said.

Re: Trip to a Fae Realm: A collaborative Fairy Tale (by invitation only please)

The Sword of Gerraxia
Gerri walked alongside Krystal and Futurina.  She wore her green and gold costume.  The long green cloak hung graciously across her shoulders.  She habitually put up a glamour to look human and hide her elf ears.

"Gerri," Futurina started, "you do know you don't have to pretend you're human here.  You are among the elves and the fae."

"Oh, sorry," Gerri apologized.  "I'm so used to putting up the glamour.  I just do it when I wake up."  She cancelled her glamour and her ears became visible through her hair.  Her emerald green eyes sparkled with excitement.

"You were raised on Earth, so, it's expected," Krystal acknowledged.  "I should see about getting that law overturned.  After all, Futurina never hid because she lived in exile and no one looks twice at her."

"Would that put the rest of us in danger?" Gerri wondered.  "After all, we've been there for centuries as guardians by pretending to be humans."

"That's a good question," Futurina agreed.  "I was a lone elf in exile, I don't think humans would view elves as invaders, but it is hard to determine their reactions."
"Swords are for fighting."
